Introducing our Hymn of the Month Theme for 2026!
Dec 22, 2025
Scripture often reminds us that the Christian life is a journey. We are sojourners and pilgrims, called to live with eternity in view as we follow Christ day by day. That perspective shapes how we endure trials, where we place our hope, and how we remain faithful when life feels heavy or uncertain.
With this in mind, I'm pleased to share that Pilgrim Perspective will be the guiding theme for our hymn studies in 2026.
Throughout church history, believers have turned to hymns not just as songs of praise but as reminders of truth when the road is difficult and encouragement to keep going when our heavenly destination feels far away. Many of the hymns chosen for the year ahead will reflect that same hope: trusting God, persevering through hardship, and fixing our hearts on what is eternal rather than what is temporary.
One familiar picture of this idea comes from John Bunyan’s classic, Pilgrim’s Progress, which opens with a man named Christian fleeing the City of Destruction, calling out for “Life! Eternal life!” What kept him moving forward wasn’t ease or comfort, but a clear sense of where he was headed. That same eternal perspective is what hymns have helped believers carry for generations.
In the coming days, I’ll be sharing more about how this theme will take shape in 2026 — including a new way to participate for those who prefer a non-subscription, year-long approach to hymn study in the year ahead.
For now, I wanted to share the heart behind the year ahead and invite you to reflect with me:
