Last Thursday was special. My sister Kara's grand opening was a smashing success and I was able to see old friends and meet those people I've heard so many good things about from my sisters.
Karisma by Kara is in a completely made over office building marketed to professionals and artists as rented office/studio/retail space. Drive anywhere near 217 E. Stone Avenue in Greenville, SC and you can't miss it. The cheerful and bright mural painted on the side of the building draws you in! To get to her shop inside, enter through the middle door and her space is just in front of you, a little to the right. I especially enjoyed getting to know the property manager, Kim, who was there all night and such a delight to talk to.
Kara decorates her shop beautifully and displays her jewelry cleverly. And I'm not gonna lie. I also loved seeing the 2017 Illustrated Hymns calendars in an actual retail space. (Thanks again, Kara, for that.) They are currently there on consignment basis, but we may be moving to a wholesale agreement soon.
Thanks also goes to those who bought my calendar. When someone complimented me on my watercolor designs, though, I was quick to clarify that I am not the original artist behind those beautiful graphics.
I purchased the individual design elements within the calendar with a special license that allows me to use them and sell them as part of an end-product of my own design. So the calendar as a whole is my design, using my own design tools, but not the individual graphics.
I do, however, dabble in watercolor and a little bit of calligraphy when I can, so as I improve, I may incorporate my own designs in the future. We shall see!
Take a look at the photos below to give you an idea of what Kara's space looks like. If you want to examine her jewelry close up in person but are not able to make it to her shop during her open hours (they are somewhat limited while she is doing some shows), come by her booth at Farm Fresh Fair at Rabon Creek in Fountain Inn this Saturday and Sunday. I've heard amazing things about this fair and
