Referring to the cross of Jesus, Isaac Watts wrote, "Dissolve my heart in thankfulness and melt mine eyes to tears."
Without the cross, I would be hard-pressed to be thankful for anything. By that I mean I would have no relationship with God, and really, then, no real motivation for thanks.
And while there may be no such thing as a "Thanksgiving carol" (or at least as popular as Christmas carols, playing on music players everywhere!), I believe the hymnal is a sort of Thanksgiving songbook.
With that in mind, I'm posting a "Thanksgiving carol" or hymn revolving around the theme of gratitude and praise today and every day until next Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
If you would like to see these all in your inbox on Thanksgiving Day (to read between mouthfuls of turkey, perhaps =), be sure to subscribe to my email list, here.
I am also posting on Instagram and Facebook, using #7thanksgivinghymns as my hashtag.
And now for the first hymn of thanks:
